174 viewsI have taken off the top box. I am looking at the drone comb that is made between the bottom of the one frame to the top of the next frame. I just tear it open when I lift off the hive body. Then I will take the larva and lok at them and look for varroa on them and in the cells. I found a total of three. Not to bad.

157 viewsAfter Just four days they have started to store honey. I didn't see a lot of eggs or a queen. But there were a lot of bees at the bottom of the nuc. I decided I would throw in a brood frame from one of my other hives.

157 viewsThis is a brood frame. They are not capped but it is filled with very tiny eggs and some very tiny larva. i a going to take this frame and put it in the nuc. I will take a frame from the nuc and put it in the big hive. I brush all the bees off the frames before I swap them.
